    Mr. William Kenneth “Bull” Harrison, 80, of Capron, passed away at home on Saturday, November 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Ellen E. Harrison; two sons, William Kenneth “Slim” Harrison, Jr. and wife, Teresa and Richard Peyton Harrison and wife, Susan; five grandchildren, Jesse Finch and wife, Hilary, Robert Finch, Brittany Harrison, Kaitlin Harrison and Richard W. Harrison; great-grandson, Cain Finch and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec 2 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd in Jarratt. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 at Capron Baptist Church. Interment will be private.   2. Obituary-Ruth Tudor Collins

    Ruth Tudor Collins, 88, of Emporia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, to reunite with loved ones in her eternal home. She was the daughter of the late Sidney A. and Lilly Mae Tudor and was also preceded in death by her husband, Cato L. Collins and all of her siblings. Mrs. Collins is survived by her son, L. Dennis Collins and wife, Jo Ann; her daughter, Linda C. Long and husband, Victor; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 1at Zion Baptist Church with interment to follow at Round Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.     Virginia Grigg Griffin, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 in Emporia, Va. She had resided at the Eugene Bloom Retirement Center in Emporia.  She previously resided at Imperial Plaza in Richmond, Va.  She was the widow of Guy W. Griffin of Richmond. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Pat Lou Grigg Sr., infant child, Stephanie Ann Purdy, siblings; Marion Grigg Jr., Walter Allen Grigg Sr., Lucille G. Goodwyn, and Charlotte G. Watkins.  She is survived by her brothers; Captain William H. Grigg and wife Sye, Charles I. Grigg Sr. and wife Bette, sister-in-law Mrs. Lucy Grigg (Walter), and many nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Emporia Cemetery, Brunswick Avenue, Emporia, Va.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.   5. Obituary-Morris Conway Driver

    Morris Conway Driver, 86, beloved husband, father, PaPa, brother and uncle passed away peacefully in the home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 13, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ferguson Driver, whom he both loved and admired all of his life. He is also survived by his five children: Earl Conway Driver and wife, Susan of Richmond, VA. Morris Conway Driver, II and wife, Lynn of Capron, VA, Glenn Patterson Driver and wife, Pam of Halifax, NC, Greg Timothy Driver of Emporia, VA and Alma Dee Driver Rhodes and husband, Bryan of Rocky Mount, NC. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. M.C. was a quiet man with much wisdom. He was a self taught musician and gifted in his ability to play the guitar. He passed that love and gift down to his children and grandchildren. M.C. was a man of hard work, principles, perseverance and God’s word. He found much fulfillment working in his yard planting beautiful flowers. He was always willing to help someone in need or feed extra mouths at the table with his famous fried chicken. He finished out each of his days with reading of God’s word. He was loved, respected, and admired by his children. There will be an empty part within each of their hearts, along with many fond memories. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 16 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia with interment to follow at Forest Hills Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that all visitation be at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12:30.   6. Obituary-Elizabeth Chaplin Cook

    Elizabeth Chaplin Cook, 92, of Emporia died on November 8, 2014 at Bloom Retirement Center.  She was the daughter of Robert Hepton and Fannie Owen Chaplin and a lifelong resident of Greensville County.  She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church/Anglican Church for many years.  A graduate of James Madison University with a Masters from Longwood University, she taught in the Greensville County Public School System for 26 years and served as an elementary school principal for 10 years before retiring.  She was active in numerous local civic, charitable, and educational organizations, including the Greensville Retired Teachers Association and The Riparian Woman’s Club.  Survivors include her daughter, Ann C. Howard and her husband, Joseph, Jr.; her son, James D. Cook, Jr. and his wife, Gail; her grandsons, Joseph Howard, III and his wife, Nancy, Robert Howard and his wife, Alka and James Cook, III and his wife, B.J.; her granddaughter, Candis Neblett and her husband, Evan; her great-grandchildren, Randy Scott, Taylor Samantha, Connor Lewis and Tessa Ann Howard, and Ethan Christopher Neblett; her sister, Mary Ann C. Lohr; her brother, Edward R. Chaplin and his wife, Julia and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Fanny C. Rawles and her brothers, Robert Rogers, John Thomas, Charles Alfred, and William Stanley Chaplin, and a very special nephew, Dr. Robert R. Chaplin, Jr.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1pm in Echols Funeral Home Chapel, 806 Brunswick Ave, Emporia, VA 23847, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm.  Interment will follow in Emporia Cemetery.  Following the burial a reception will be held at Originals by Randi, 347 Halifax Street, Emporia.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any of the following, Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.     CCH is pleased to announce that we have achieved Level 4, the highest level of achievement of the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program.   We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Organization, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, focusing on improving end-of-life care for Veterans.  It surprises many Americans to learn that 26 million Veterans are alive today and 25% of all deaths in the US are Veterans.  The VA administration cares for a small number of Veterans at the end of life. Through the We Honor Veterans Program, Crater Community Hospice is committed to providing Veterans and their families with the care and community resources to make their last weeks and months a meaningful experience.
